- The declaration was signed today in the in 6th EuCheMS Chemistry Congress in the parallel celebration of the debate ‘Chemistry & Society: Towards a sustainable future through chemistry’.
- The debate was organized by the Chemistry and Society Forum. The declaration recognises the role of Chemistry’s contribution to respond to the challenges that are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals set by the UN.
- The first to adhere to the declaration have been the debate participants: Carlos Negro, President of the Chemistry and Society Forum; Jean Marie Pierre Lehn, Chemistry Nobel Prize 1987; Antón Valero, President of the Spanish Chemical Industry Business Federation; Ehud Keinan, President of the Chemistry Society of Israel; Robert Parker, Executive President of the Royal Society of Chemistry; and Harmut Frank, Environmental Chemistry Professor and Ecotoxicology of the University of Bayreuth.
