In order to reach the aim of accomplishing excellence in the chemical sciences it is important to continuously promote a positive image of chemistry and increase public understanding of the importance of chemical science in our everyday lives. With this purpose EuCheMS 2016 will open its doors to the general public, schools, friends and families.

No doubt. chemical science will play an important role in the future development of science and humanity; in this scenario there is a need to establish a permanent open dialogue with the public and all stakeholders in order to increase their understanding of chemistry in an open way in order to promote and develop chemical sciences for the benefit of society.

  • A dedicated program will be developed for EuCheMS 2016 with this purpose, including the Theatre play “You are Made up of Elements – A Story of the Periodic Table of the Elements”, the show “The magic of chemistry”, activities highlighting examples of extraordinary chemistry as seen in our daily life.

A STORY OF THE PERIODIC TABLE OF THE ELEMENTS

A PERFORMANCE AWARDED IN THE SPANISH “SCIENCE ON STAGE” FESTIVAL 2012

Open to the general public, this performance introduces the audience to the world of atoms and chemical elements through a story of the history of the periodic table of elements.

In this play, the theatre groups of Jaén University “In Vitro and Mamadou”, under the direction of Noel Rosa Gutierrez, introduce viewers in a historical-adventure of atoms, the chemical elements and their applications. This imaginary trip will come to life in an entertaining and fun way in the company of figures like Marie and Pierre Curie, discoverers of radium and polonium; Dimitri Mendeleev and Lothar Meyer who led us to the current Periodic Table of Elements; and Antonio de Ulloa and Juan José and Fausto Delhuyar the Spanish brothers, credited with the discovery of an element, platinum and tungsten, respectively.
