Dear colleagues,

Welcome to the 6th EuCheMS Chemistry Congress, the European Chemistry and Molecular Sciences’ convention that will be held from the 11th to the 15th of September in Seville, Spain, in 2016.

Chemistry is a very important part of the present and future of Spain: it has a major role in academia with over 30.000 undergraduate students and over 6.000 teaching staff, relevant public research organisms such as CSIC, and in the economy and industry, since the chemical sector represents 11% of the country’s Gross Industrial Product.

As a founding member of EuCheMS, ANQUE shares its goals and commitments in promoting the cooperation with other chemical and molecular sciences societies in Europe. ANQUE’s more than 9.000 members and the support and collaboration of the most important Academic and Industrial organizations, such as the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry (RSEQ), Spanish Chemical Industry Federation (FEIQUE), Spanish Forum for Chemistry and Society (FQS), Spanish Society of Analytic Chemistry (SEQA) and Catalan Society of Chemistry (SCQ), represent a unique opportunity for all Congress participants.

These facts and context make it a very special honour for ANQUE to organise the 2016 EuCheMS Congress.

All this support is also backed up by solid evidence: the chemical sector is the only industrial sector in Spain that has grown since 2007; companies and research organisms are welcoming this opportunity to participate in the Congress and meet with the best talent Europe has to offer.

We believe that the hospitality that distinguishes Spanish culture will specially shine and show its best at the Congress’ venue: Seville. A city well known for its vast historical legacy of impressive sights, delicious gastronomy and excellent climate that also offers top tier infrastructures and facilities that will be the perfect setting for such an important meeting. The best of all is its marvellous people known to really master how to enjoy life. It’s no coincidence that the city’s motto is “where we love people”. When you come you’ll see it’s absolutely so.

I will hence on behalf of ANQUE and all the Spanish societies involved in the organisation of this EuCheMS Congress, convey our total disposition regarding any help or information you might need to join us in Seville for this event. We want this to be, will put all our effort to make it happen and believe it will be a Congress to remember and a reference in the years to come.

Best regards,

Ernesto Castañeda
President ANQUE
