Sonsoles Martín-Santamaría obtained her PhD at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (1998). She carried out two postdoctoral stays at Imperial College London (1998-2000) and at Universidad de Alcalá (2000-2003). In 2003 she obtained a “Ramón y Cajal” Research Fellowship and joined Universidad CEU San Pablo (2004-2008) where she became Assistant Professor (2008-2011) and Associate Professor (2011-2014). Since 2014, she is Tenured Scientist at the Center for Biological Research of CSIC.
Her research interest lies at the interface between Chemistry and Biology, by means of Molecular Modeling and Computational Chemistry applied to the understanding of ligand- receptor interactions and molecular recognition processes relevant for drug design. She has authored a number of indexed publications and participated in several projects funded by the Spanish Government and the European Commission. She is Secretary of the Chemical Biology Division of the Royal Society of Chemistry of Spain and member of the RSEQ Board. Since 2012, she is Principal Investigator of the Computational Chemical Biology group.
