6th EuCheMS Chemistry Congress wraps up as a total success

September 15th, 2016. – After five days of lectures, presentations, posters, events celebrations, awards and networking, 6th EuCheMS Congress has come to a close today.

Organisers and attendants describe it as one of the best ever in terms of scientific quality, contents, venue, attendance and results.

David Cole-Hamilton, EuCheMS president highlighted the Congress excellent turnout. “It has been no doubt one of the the most successful editions in our 10t years of congress celebrations.” During the closing ceremony, EuCheMS new president was announced, Pilar Goya from The Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) will now preside the European Association for Chemical and Molecular Sciences, the first woman in its history.

ANQUE representatives are proud to have attracted the congress to Spain. Ernesto Castañeda, ANQUE president and Chair of the Organizing Committee thanked the support of sponsors, exhibitors, collaborators and media partners. “The incredible support of the regional government of Andalucía, its investment agency, some of the major Chemical companies in Spain and all our other sponsors have made this edition possible and a success.” He said.

Ben Feringa received the August Wilhelm von Hofmann Denkmunze Award from The German Chemical Society (The Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker – GDCh) in recognition of his ground-breaking research on dynamic molecular systems, catalysis and stereochemistry. After this ceremony, Feringa offered the conference: ”From Molecules to Dynamic Molecular Systems”.

The European Young Chemists handed their 2016 Awards to showcase and recognise the excellent research being carried out by young scientists working in the chemical sciences. EYCA’s award was initiated by the Italian Chemical Society (SCI), the Consiglio Nazionale dei Chimici (CNC) who organise it this year with the collaboration of the Spanish National Chemists Association, ANQUE.

7th EuCheMS Congress celebration in Liverpool, UK, 26-30 August 2018 was presented by Robert Parker, CEO of the Royal Chemical Society. “We believe in the power of chemistry to change the world” he said. The 7th EuCheMS Congress slogan will be: Molecular frontiers and global challenges.
